I don’t understand American Football or the Superbowl. I just know there’s always a big hype and some great tv spots and trailers come out of it. So, because of that, here are some of the ones I’m excited about and one I’m not.
A Quiet Place: This one piqued my interest pretty quickly. From the minute I heard the words “invasion” “around the world” and “total devastation” I was ready. What followed was a tense and well-executed few seconds that begun to set the scene for John Karanski’s new apocalyptic thriller.
The Cloverfield Paradox: I mean, come ON. I’ll be honest, there’s nothing about the actual spot that blew me away but the marketing for these films is great. And I love that we live in an age where we can experience the thrill of films being announced and available on the same day. I know the reviews haven’t been great for this one, but I’m definitely excited to see what a further expansion of this world brings.
Red Sparrow: I’ve seen a lot of criticism surrounding this film already. While the premise is very similar to Marvel’s Black Widow comics, I sense Red Sparrow will be a lot more mature. I’m also excited to see Jennifer Lawrence in an action film again because she’s great in everything I’ve seen her do.

Avengers: Infinity War: I’m so so excited for this film. It really is a milestone in franchise cinema. While I think that initial (awesome) trailer kind of overshadowed this spot, we did get a glimpse of some new content; i.e Cap’s really cool new shield (thing). This also made me even more excited for Black Panther.
Mission: Impossible Fallout: I love an action film trailer. From the soundtrack to the cast, M:I Fallout looks to be A LOT of fun. And slightly more brutal than its predecessors. I’ve never been much of an MI fan but this one looks like it could be promising and very entertaining.
Dis-honorable mention:
Jurassic World: The Lost Kingdom: It just doesn’t feel the same. I really enjoyed Jurassic World, but this one doesn’t have that same excitement behind it. However, I reckon we’ll see more of the ‘scientists pissing around with dinosaur DNA to make another Super-Dinosaur’ so I guess we’ll have to see what’s next. At least they have Bryce Dallas Howard in appropriate footwear and clothing this time because the way they dolled her up in the first and had her running around the island in heels in the first JW was annoying and unnecessary I’ll probably go see this one, but I’m not counting down the days until its release.
What were your favourites?
Andrew.
Sooooooooooooooo hyped for Infinity War! I really want to see A Quiet Place as well. I watched The Cloverfield Paradox immediately after the game and it was great. I agree on the marketing.
Jurassic World can just leave. lol

I’m glad I’ve seen something positive about Cloverfield Paradox! And yes, with Black Panther this month and Infinity War later on in the year, I’m excited for what Marvel are doing. Yeah, I’m not excited in the least for JW lmao
